Bright, Bold Lips

How To:

Bright, Bold Lips

As the weather is getting a little warmer and the days become brighter (thank god!!) I am also going to start being a little more adventurous with my makeup. Brighter colours mainly, but I also fancy changing up my look every month or so.

Anyway, I will probably start with bold lips. I recently cleared out and sorted my makeup collection and found so many lipsticks and glosses of all different colours, even a really neon bright pink!

I probably won’t head straight for the neon, but a deep red or fresh spring pink will be a good start.

So, let’s get to it.

How to: Bright Lips Guide

PREPARATION

This goes for all lipstick to be honest. Cracked and dry lips will never give you that glamorous, luscious lip that you dream of. If you do have dry lips, never fear. You can easily create a lip scrub with just two ingredients. Grab some sugar and Vaseline, mix them together and gently rub the mix on your lips. Once removed, your lips will be softer, but make sure to use a good lip balm on them afterwards. I love all Burt’s Bees products and the cocoa butter ones, I can’t remember the name, but they smell so good! An alternative method is to buy a really (really) soft toothbrush. You can rub the bristles over your lips and get the same sort of effect, but just make sure you are really gentle with this one!

LINE YOUR LIPS

I’m going to put this here, but to be honest, I wouldn’t blame you if you don’t take my advice. For one, I never line my lips. I only have one liner that I got in a goody bag from the clothes show; it’s never been used… However, lining your lips does make the look more professional and it does look good. Give it a go if you want.

APPLY

With bold colours, less is more. Apply colours using a lip brush for ultimate control.

CONFIDENCE

Finally, look like you wear bold colours all the time. With this look, confidence is key.

20 Free Date Ideas

20 Free Date Ideas

It’s that time of the year again when Valentine’s Day comes around and we all need shower our loved ones with gifts.

Ok, I hope you understood my sarcasm there.

This year I decided to come up with a little series of date posts that will hopefully give you a few ideas of what to do at this time of the year (either with a loved one, friends, or by yourself!)

So here it is, my 20 free date ideas:

20 Free Date Ideas

1.     Have a stay at home film marathon
Catch up on those trilogies, watch a horror…followed by something a little less scary, or both of your favourite films. If you fancy, grab some pick and mix, ice cream and popcorn, make the room really dark and snuggle together with some blankets.

2.     Go for a walk
Whether you walk along the beach, in the forest or in your local town window shopping, it’s really nice to get out of the house and spend some quality time together.

3.     Collect sea shells at the beach
I love the beach; it’s so romantic and reminds me of home, holidays and just great times. Whether you make sand castles, walk along the shore, throw stones into the sea or collect beautiful seashells, the beach can make such a lovely date.

4.     Have a games night
Grab all your favourite board games and play them the night away.

5.     Camp out in the garden
Grab loads of blankets, duvets, and pillows, build a campfire, make some s’mores, a bbq, and tell each other scary stories, the list goes on!

6.     Go star gazing
This is so simple and really romantic. If you like, you could also download an app so you learn something at the same time.

7.     Play a sport
Go to your local court and shoot some hoops or grab a ball and see who can shoot the most goals.

8.     Home spa
Give each other a massage, manicure, pedicure, enjoy a warm bath and just relax together. Don’t forget the candles!

9.     Make a den
Revisit childhood and make a den in your house.

10. Visit local museums and art galleries
(The free ones!) Most art galleries and museums are free and a great opportunity to learn something new.

11. Visit a pet store
Have a look round at all the cute animals, just be careful, you might not be able to resist!

12. Draw each other
A really fun idea, all you have to do is grab some paper and a pencil, draw each other and laugh at the results (or frame them!)

13. TV series marathon
Need to catch up on a TV series? Still not caught up on Breaking Bad? This is the perfect opportunity to catch up on TV and spend time together.

14. Go to a kids park
I always loved the swings at the park: relive your favourite childhood memories and play on the swing.

15. Fly a kite
If it’s a windy day, it’s the perfect opportunity to fly a kite. Wrap up warm, grab the kite and head outside.

16. Play video games
Go head to head playing video games.

17. Sign up to a fun run
As well as running the event together, this also gives you an opportunity to train together too.

18. Show each other your favourite YouTube videos
I love finding new YouTubers to watch and videos that make me laugh. Show each other your favourite videos and see something new.

19. Do a home exercise class
We all have those old exercise DVDs in the cupboards. Grab one and press play. YouTube also has loads of dance classes and exercise videos for you to try.

20. Bike ride in the woods
If it’s a nice day, a bike ride in the woods makes the perfect date. If you wish, you could also find a beautiful spot and set up a little picnic area. Chocolate covered strawberries and champagne would make this a very special date indeed!

So there you have it, my 20 free date ideas. I hope you have found this useful and if you have any more ideas to add, leave them in the comments!

65 Date Ideas to Try in 2015

Valentine's Day is approaching and so it is that time of the year to grab that special person in your life and show them how much you love them. If you are lucky enough to have someone on Valentine's day, here is a really long list of ideas for you. Go out, stay in, do something as simple as watching a film together, just have fn and enjoy spending time together in 2015.

For singletons on Valentine's day, I can only say sorry - maybe you could use this as a list of things to do!

So here you have it, 65 date ideas to try and complete in 2015 (I may have even included a bonus at the end... you lucky lucky people!)

New Years' Resolutions

Ok, so this post is a little late, but I was looking through my list of blog ideas and I saw that I had completely forgotten to write down my new year's resolutions. Now, I always have my go-to’s, the lose weight, the go outside more and eat healthily habits, but alongside these there are always other ideas that I come up with, but usually forget around March time.

So, here I am, writing up my new year's resolutions. So far, some are going quite well and as the year goes on, I’ll keep checking up on them and remind myself so this is the year that I actually accomplish them!

2015 New Year's Resolutions

1.     Get Fit – Actually go to the gym. Don’t use this as a time to walk around texting and checking out the hot guys, actually sweat and work out. Don’t kid yourself that the bill coming out of your bank each month is worth it because you have the membership card. Also, stop telling people at work that you go to the gym and are busy all the time (because by busy you mean eating ice cream in front of the TV, in your pajamas).

2.     Be Braver – I am a total scardy cat. I hate change and if a bus is late, I start to panic. Brave and I do not mix. However, I am hoping to try out a few new things this year and to do this I will have to be a little braver.

3.     Try new things – (this obviously links to the be braver thing) wear bolder lipstick, try new hair styles, be more daring with clothes, say yes to more opportunities

4.     Finish Things – I always start projects and to be honest, I get really excited, start them, buy all the things and then never complete them, never. This year though, if I start anything I will complete it. Also, this ties into Pinterest. There are so many things on there that I need to have a go at, so that is my plan. Have a go, and if it goes well, I’m aiming to blog about it… so far though all my attempts have failed. FYI, I’ve tried cake pops, bath bombs, soap and a 9-5 hair style…

5.     Redecorate the spare room – this should be on my general to do list really but if its on here I’ll remember – It’s going to be my office area so it really needs to get done!

6.     Take my makeup off every night – even if I really really REALLY cant be bothered. Oh, and moisturize more.

7.     Wake up earlier – I am the sleepiest person of all time. I can sleep for 12-13 hours and still be tired. For me, I need every other day off, just to catch up on sleep. However, I don’t have enough time in the day, so waking up earlier and getting stuff done, may be the way forward. It will also stop me getting caught up in Breaking Bad, Pretty Little Liars and all the other good stuff on Netflix… maybe I should just stop watching TV before bed… actually nah

8.     Don’t waste your weekends. As mentioned, I sleep… a lot. This usually results in me wasting my days, lounging round, doing nothing. This is lovely, but I have so much to do that I really wish that I would get stuff done. Yes, enjoy my days off, just don’t waste them!

And there we have it, a little list of resolutions that I really hope I can stick to this year. I will be very happy if I lose weight and get fitter as this is a resolution that has been floating around for years and years, but I also want to be braver. This will then allow me to travel more and really be more adventurous with my fashion and beauty ideas. I have so many ideas that I never try out because of what people will say or just incase it goes wrong, but hey, you can't learn with out making a few mistakes along the way right?

I hope that your new year's resolutions are going well. Don’t give up, it’s not even February yet!

January Blues

I'm not sure if this is a little late, do people still find January difficult? Are we missing Christmas and the party season still? Well I am, I cannot wait until there is a little bit more excitement! Yes, there is some snow falling every now and then and work is picking up again, which is amazing, but I still would prefer it if I had a party or two to go to! FYI, I went to a party yesterday, but it was for a 7 year old... not quite what I am looking for although I did get to wear a lot of pink and fit right in.

Anyway, I hope that everyone else is having a great January. I have decided to create a post that focusses on one of my loves, fashion. To tie it into the January blues I am still feeling it revolves all around that colour, snuggling indoors and enjoying looking out at the snow.

So, here it is. I hope you like it and hey, maybe January isn't that bad...
It's almost over anyway.
